Next year I am taking on a new role at school. Not yet fully defined, but one that will involve coordinating the efforts of more than one department. I will be encouraging the use of a wider range of edtech tools and on and offline teaching methods, to teachers more knowledgeable about their subject than I am.
This role requires the ability to enable teachers to repurpose their talents, to see their teaching role in a new form, from a different perspective, in an effort to improve results. It may even require teachers to redesign the role of a student? It will almost certainly bring into question the default teaching and learning environment. Time (that word again) – time to disconnect, to think and conceive a vision before an action plan can be outlined. Exciting, but time – is very scarce resource at present.
