Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing. – The Difference Maker, John Maxwell p53 and later associated with the Adidas campaign featuring Muhammad Ali
This is a word I have wrestled with previously, and it is most definitely a word educators and coaches need to know how to denounce. In an effort to be better prepared for when I do, and all teachers will be, I sought out the history of the quote, Most links pointed to Ali and the Adidas campaign, one or two pointed to John Maxwell’s book. Along the was I did enjoy the Cathal O’Shannon – Ali interview and quite a philosophy blogs. (And a note to self, many of my students needed telling who Ali is and what he stood for.)
