Leadership interviews

Having attended various leadership interviews over the past two year, including applying for the role I was currently in as part of a leadership reorganisation (successful), I always saw interviewing as an opportunity to glean all that was good from a school and note the signals, aspects or practices one would try to avoid when hosting candidates.

I have completed a wide range of tasks through this process, all attempting to reveal one’s suitability for the post including; student voice interviews, speed interviews, teaching philosophy presentation, learning interviews, lesson observations, teaching, feedback to teachers, learning walks and feedback, lead a task with the student voice, informal interviews, formal interviews, prepare a curriculum review, introductions to staffrooms, data analsysis tasks, reviewing Area Improvement Plan or Department Improvement plans, meeting with local primary heads, responding to a letter from a parents, from a local resident, evening meal with governors, skills audit, response to the job skills specification and of course the customary school tour with exemplary student and panel interview.

I would be very interested to hear what colleagues have experienced, designed and lead at interview. Also why it worked well and even if the activity would not be used a second time. Add your contributions here. I will collect and present the contributions here is a few weeks time. Feel free to leave any comments regarding the spreadsheet layout too, one set of eyes and one opinion, is not the best outlook for designing such a spreadsheet.
