Again my RSS reader comes up trumps, this time with Adobe Project Rome. So what is it? And, Did it take longer than a day to build?
Project ROME is an all-in-one content creation and publishing application that lets virtually anyone at work, home or school* inject the power of graphics, photos, text, video, audio and animation into everyday projects.
Now that, that is cleared up. It is worth mentioning that it is free* for a limited time only.
The creation tool is fairly straight forward and with a range of templates to choose from, so you don’t have to start from scratch. ROME has a decent set of editing tools, with a definite design feel and focus, that gives you an indication for the target audience. Quick access palette tools, import media types and animations really enliven published documents of old. ROME certainly make creating interactive documents within reach of most teachers, given a little determination and creative spark. Of course, there is the modern compliment of share, collaborated and community options. If you don’t wish to download the desktop app, try out the web app.
Adobe are already thinking about education (gold star in my book) with digital story telling, quiz, portfolio type templates.
So here is my challenge. Its 22.27, (I will prove that by publishing this post in a minute and tweeting the challenge) what can I create, taking an existing website template and export as an Adobe PDF for anyone to access in say, 60 mins? BRB.
*After the free public preview period expires, additional fees or subscription charges may apply. Services may be subject to change or discontinuation without notice.
Dig a little deeper in the education section of the website and I find…
Google®/Moodle™ Integration
Collaborate and share projects or materials with others using Google® Apps or Moodle™ learning management systems (pilot program only).
I wonder what that means? Moodle.org anyone.
